General Electric Mechanical Design Engineer – CREO (m/f) in Zipf, Austria

Role Summary:

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. to deliver detailed mechanical design solutions and related industrial documentation. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Positions requiring understanding of a concepts, methods and procedures to the agreed technical requirements, timescales and budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities medical devices (ultrasound probes), develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team

  • Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects

  • Support to functional & environmental trials

  • Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise

  • Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones

  • Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements

  • Challenge the design in order to reduce technical risks and complexity

  • Ensure reliability, performance and delivery through cross-functional and supplier relationships


  • Masters/Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Significant excperience of engineering design working with project teams

  • Proven expertise in Conceptualization, detail design, basic FE simulations, design calculations, material selection, CAD modeling, prototyping, verification and validation

  • In-depth understanding of feature-based, associative & parametric modeling / assembly modeling, with hands-on experience using CREO (essential)

  • Good knowledge of various plastics and moulding technologies

  • Experience in design documentation to comply with ISO and European standards

  • Experience in Microsoft Office (essential)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in GE Healthcare in designing innovative mechanical solutions for complete products

  • Familiar with GEHC QMS processes

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a matrixed organization

  • Experience in:

  • Manufacturing processes

  • Environmental Gasket Sealing

  • Thermal management design

  • Tooling/fixtures design, Structural design

  • Medical Standards

  • Lifecycles

  • Industrial validation

  • Design of PCB enclosures

  • Design to meet EMC requirements

For this position, the minimum salary based on the collective agreement is EUR 2.867,70 gross per month. We will be pleased to discuss the appropriate effective salary based on your qualifications and experience.
