General Electric Lead Engineer - Verification & Validation in Wuxi, China

Job Description Summary

As a Lead Engineer - Verification & Validation, you will define, perform and document system and/or standard verification and validation activities to ensure the design meets its requirements. The role is involved in many facets of qualifications, including verification and validation, environmental, HALT, and EMC testing. As a Lead Engineer, this role will require working within design team and other cross-functional project team to determine the verification scope, develop the strategy and plan for both New Product Introductions (NPIs) and Installation Base (IB) to ensure the effective and quality design and verification.

Job Description


  • Create and execute system level Verification and Validation plans, Procedures, perform tests, and document Verification Results

  • Document any design defects (product non-conformances) discovered. Interfacing with other engineering disciplines to research, correct, and close design defects

  • Work with 3rd party (such as UL, TUV) to define the type-testing scope, author the test plans, test procedures, execute & consolidate the reports.

  • Work with external test houses (such as EMI, EMC, environment tests) to define the test scope, author the test plans, test procedures, execute & consolidate the reports

  • Work with Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Engineering experts to prepare for and support FDA and other country-specific agency audits

  • Review and challenge the system requirements for scope, risk, suitability and testability

  • Participates in a cross-functional team supporting design reviews, FMEAs, hazard analysis and risk assessments to ensure high standards are met

  • Drive testing involved early and often in the design process to ensure design flaws are identified as early as possible

  • Work with product design teams in the early phases of development planning and performing system/standard testing and reliability testing

  • Design and development of tools to perform Reliability Demonstration Testing (RDT) and automated testing (where possible)

  • Interaction and alignment with the various stakeholders in the project team (ME, EE and System Engineers)

  • Capability of management of multiple verification tasks at the same time according to the assigned priorities

  • Maintain technical skills and awareness of test technical innovations

  • Flexible to change and strive for continuous personal development and test process improvement


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • 4+ years of experience in Design Engineering, Product Testing, or Test Fixture Development

  • Design Controls experience; particularly in the areas of Verification and Validation

  • Demonstrated experience working with a multi-discipline team

  • Demonstrated leadership, verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated written and oral English skills

Desired: (Desired Characteristics)

  • Experience with mechanical and electrical design and development

  • Experience with Reliability Design and Test Engineering

  • Experience in a health-care related field

  • CAPA, Audit experience; particularly in the areas of Verification and Validation

  • Experience with requirement and defect management tools (i.e. DOORS, ClearQuest)

  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software problems to the root cause

  • Experience performing product design verification in a highly regulated industry

  • Ability to work in a high paced, dynamic global environment with a variety of people

  • Experience in product life cycle and/or software development life cycle

  • Test instrumentation and/or automation experience using LabView, C, C++, Java, Python or Ruby

  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining instrumented test systems or electronic systems
