Job Description Summary
The thermal-hydraulics technical leader on the Analytical Methods Technology team will work within the Core & Fuel Engineering COE to support all business units within GNF/GEH across Fuels, Services, and Design Engineering.

Essential Responsibilities :
The role involves leading engineers towards development, verification, validation, and maintenance of current and advanced computational methods for thermal-hydraulic analysis of existing BWRs, PWRs, and future nuclear reactor core and fuel designs, as well as leading the team to develop advanced fuel design products such as ATF, ARMOR, etc.; planning, assigning and managing resources for the team performing the analysis described.
Provide technical leadership for thermal-hydraulic analysis within the AMT team
Establish and maintain relationships with teams and commercial leaders within Services and Design Engineering to understand upcoming thermal-hydraulic work demands and provide inputs on team capability and availability
Work with other engineering leaders to advance risk-informed designs
Perform manager review and approval of engineering technical deliverables for GNF/GEH customers
Work with project managers and commercial program managers to provide work planning, scheduling and technical support for customer deliverables
Perform technical evaluations, analyses and verifications in the areas of nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulics and fuel product development.
Work within a team environment to perform thermal-hydraulic analyses and related evaluations to support a variety of Fuel and Services design and licensing projects
Perform work in compliance with NRC regulated policies and procedures
Interface with internal and external customers on technical issues
Support Company initiatives including Simplification process improvement and New Product Introduction
Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (nuclear or mechanical), physics, mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 6 years of cumulative engineering experience
Minimum of 2 years of nuclear industry experience
Minimum 2 years of thermal hydraulics analysis experience
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be willing to work onsite in Wilmington NC
Desired Characteristics :
Master’s degree in engineering (nuclear or mechanical), physics, mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited university or college
Project management training & experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Primavera
Experience with crossover technical skillsets such as multi-phase flow, compressible flow, fluid dynamics/mechanics, heat transfer, and/or performance analysis
Experience with nuclear/thermal-hydraulic analysis codes such as ANSYS/FLUENT, CFX, COBRA, TRAC, ISCOR
Experience in Services and Design Engineering related to Jet pump, steam dryer, separator, and relevant thermal-hydraulic evaluations
Experience in nuclear reactor theory and computational methods
Experience with numerical methods and software engineering
Experience with fuel product development
Experience with BWR and PWR technology
Background in two-phase thermal hydraulics and computational fluid dynamics
Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others
Team player with strong leadership capabilities

Dedicated coursework and / or experience in the area of thermal-hydraulic analysis
The salary range for this position is $107-142k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
