General Electric Technical Leader – Digital Engineering (Remote Eligible, U.S.) in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Digital Engineering Technical Leader (DETL) will work within the engineering organization team and the digital products team to support the GEH digital strategy on new nuclear plants. The role involves leading engineers towards successful acquisition, configuration, deployment and use of engineering design and design process tools and platforms. These will support the development and implementation of federated common data environments involved in the capital delivery phase of new nuclear plants. The DETL will plan, assign, and align resources for the team performing the work. The DETL will set the standards, review work product, and provide coaching/mentoring to less experienced team members.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

As the Digital Products Technical Leader, you will:

  • Drive acquisition, evaluation, and improvement opportunities of software applications supporting digital products. This evaluation and improvements are related to configuration, deployment, and execution, including requirements definition, best practices, lessons learned, issue resolution, break-fix, enhancements, and upgrades.

  • Analyze, design, and develop a roadmap, design pattern, and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint for a comprehensive digital strategy.

  • Establishing processes and procedures to streamline the use of different applications of a common data environment.

  • Solutioning a seamless interface and interoperability of different common data environments.

  • Lead collaborative efforts with business partners and other team members and functions (IT, Sourcing, Project Management, Engineering, Cyber, Finance, Legal, Quality)

  • Responsible for ongoing conformance to quality assurance program requirements, system architecture, standards, and practices

  • Mentor and train engineering team members in software engineering applications and platforms, configuration, and use

  • Provide communication on significant issues or developments.

  • Provide technical and programmatic oversight to resolve issues, investigate problem areas, and develop recommendations for development programs and maintenance.

  • Demonstrate excelling business acumen, knows latest industry trends, and is looked at as the point of contact on the product as well as the associated competitive landscape.

  • Interacts with customers/stakeholders in VOC requirements-gathering, fine tuning, and obtaining product feedback.

  • Works with cross-functional teams to deliver features and significant products.

  • Demonstrate superior persuasion and influencing skills that ensure alignment between customer, product manager and engineering teams.

  • Prioritizes continuously in accordance with the understanding and validation of customer problems and needs.

  • Demonstrates strategic level skills in problem decomposition and ability to navigate through ambiguity.

  • Translates unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work unit.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an Associate's Degree with additional 2 years of experience in Information Management.

  • Demonstrated at least 3 years of experience in implementation of information management framework standards and setting up a project delivery digital common data environment.

  • Demonstrated at least 6 years of experience in managing technical software applications, project management skills, and in implementation of engineering related software tools or IT/Digital operations.

Eligibility Requirements

The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.

Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge of industry cyber standards (inclusive of CFR 810 Export Control).

  • Demonstrated experience in information management framework BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650 and CFIHOS standards) and setting up a project delivery digital common data environment (CDE).

  • Familiarity with CDE applications for requirements management, document management, scheduling, 3D modeling, and asset management.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementation of engineering related software tools, including Software Development Lifecycle

  • Experience with change, configuration, document / drawing management

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as: power, process, marine, medical or oil and gas but preferably nuclear under a 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Program for safety-related systems, structures, and components

  • Knowledge of nuclear business products, business processes, customers, and competitive environment

  • Operate at a senior level within the organization.

  • Project management training & experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Primavera

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

  • Clearly and confidently communicates based on deep understanding.

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.

  • Strong team building skills.

  • Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships.

  • Ability to manage multiple high priority demands simultaneously.

  • Process oriented with ability to facilitate continuous performance improvement.

The salary range for this position is $108k-$165k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
