General Electric Senior Product Manager - Sodium Fast Reactor Engineered Equipment in Wilmington, North Carolina
Job Description Summary
The Product Manager will own the definition, development, delivery, overall strategy, and business results for engineered equipment for sodium fast reactors (SFR) designs (e.g. Natrium), as well as other Gen IV technologies (e.g. micro and space reactors). In this role, you will work as a key partner to the Reactor Product Managers and coordinate across organizational functions to help develop and deliver cost competitive equipment in support of reactors that satisfy requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
Leads Product Management key components such as Electromagnetic Pumps, Control Rod Drive Mechanisms, and Instrumentation & Controls with the new nuclear products business segment. Also translates concepts, develops strategy and implements change.
Creates programs responsive to customers, partners, and Reactor Product Managers and help lead cross-functional component development.
Provides leadership, direction, and control for all integrated product management for assigned products for SFRs and other Generation IV technologies.
Provides leadership for sales, design, manufacture, sourcing, installation, operational support, and service of portfolio of products.
Work closely with SFR and Micro-reactor Product Managers in support of their reactor strategies, including jointly interfacing with customers and partners to understand Critical to Quality characteristics (CTQs) of assigned products.
Work closely with Design to Cost (DTC) Program Manager to create cost competitive products that support an overall DTC approach to SFR and Gen IV reactors.
Provides product/program management that meets or exceeds the financial objectives in the areas of business operations as well as expected level of customer satisfaction.
Works collaboratively with the Engineering organization and its experts to establish product definition (e.g. regulatory requirements, codes & standards, quality requirements, etc.) and to determine and guide the engineering approach (e.g. build to print vs build to spec)
Works collaboratively with the Project Delivery organization to set organizational and resources goals to meet program schedule milestones and support delivery.
Drive make vs buy decisions with business with support of Manufacturing and Sourcing organizations, and then help drive selected approach with continued support.
Influences profitable growth of the SFR and Generation IV technologies business by developing processes and systems that will product competitively priced support products
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
3 years of experience in product management or equivalent
Minimum 8 years of experience in power generation or technical heavy industry
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently with minimal direction required
- Willingness to travel (15%)
Engineering degree and experience
Knowledge of power markets and how to create customer value
Self motivated and capable of planning and executing major initiatives with little supervision
Proven managerial and negotiation ability with strong financial acumen and experience in contract negotiations
Nuclear reactor design experience
Experience in manufacturing
Experience in supply chain / supplier oversight
Non-nuclear cradle-to-grave component design or project management experience is preferred (e.g. robotics, oil & gas, gas power, renewable power, automotive, defense etc.)
Concentrated solar power with molten salt energy storage experience
Good understanding of SFRs and other Generation IV nuclear technologies
Knowledgeable of power plant systems, controls, equipment, regulations, and terminology
Knowledge and experience with engineering and project tools, processes, and software
Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly English
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
