General Electric Senior Engineer – Digital Architect in Wilmington, North Carolina
Job Description Summary
Responsible for developing industrial controls systems architecture for next generation of nuclear reactors. Define how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, managed, and supported by different data entities and IT systems based on in-depth knowledge of evolving market and product landscape. Make decisions on industry products & technologies that align to current business needs. Responsible for the successful configuration of engineering design tools / platforms. The scope includes interfacing and integrating work processes associated with engineering tools, producing a complete integrated system, and to serving as an escalation point for tool performance issues and improvement opportunities. This role is highly technical on execution, enabling architecture, software/hardware, data analytics, and forward-looking scalable platforms.
Develop and deliver on multiple projects with ownership of technical execution. Work with BWRX-300 customers, advanced reactor product managers and engineering team to understand product requirements.
Work on highly complex projects that require in-depth domain knowledge of two or more specialized architecture areas, instrumentation of critical systems for monitoring plant parameters, software/hardware, data analytics, storage and development of forward-looking scalable platforms.
Work across multiple technical or functional domains on discussions relative to define platforms for future architecture direction across the product portfolio or product line.
Analyze, design, and develop a roadmap, design pattern, and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at data domain level within product portfolio or team.
Participate in Data Governance Council.
Contribute to the development of software, data and technology platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
Maintain configuration management of engineering design process tools / platforms that develop, design, and document the baseline of nuclear plant system, structure, or component.
Serve as the interface and integrate work processes throughout the lifecycle of the project, and across partners, vendors, and subcontractors.
Develop plans to evolve implement a digital twin that connects engineering tools with other systems (e.g., real-time process control systems, plant monitoring systems, enterprise asset management system, enterprise resource planning system)
Work with business partners and with other team members (IT, Project Management, Engineering) to evaluate / improve configuration, deployment, and execution, including requirements definition, best practices, lessons learned, issue resolution, enhancements, and upgrades
Ensure ongoing conformance to quality assurance program requirements, system architecture, standards, and practices
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or ‘STEM” majors (Science Technology Engineering and Math)
Demonstrated at least 10 years of experience in in developing digital solutions for industrial applications, power plants, control architecture, managing technical software applications, project management skills, and in implementation of engineering related software tools, which cover these specific areas
Knowledgeable in implementing configuration management information system tools and processes
Knowledgeable in 3D modeling tools such as Autodesk, AVEVA E3D, Bentley, or Intergraph Smart 3D
Knowledgeable in engineering design and design process tools such as DOORS Next Gen, 3KeyMaster, Enovia PLM, and Data Lake
Demonstrated experience in developing plans for systems that will be integrated into digital twin

The salary range for this position is $104-150k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
