Job Description Summary
The Outage Services Field Engineer - Nuclear, will provide over-all technical and leadership support for the successful execution of complex projects and activities. Activities to include BWR & PWR reactor disassembly, re-assembly, modifications, fuel movement, in-core maintenance, control rod drive, hydraulic control unit, and nuclear instrumentation maintenance / troubleshooting.
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform on-site reactor services of systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance and repair after installation
Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, repair and maintenance at customer's sites
Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise on BWR & PWR industry standards
Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties
Plan, prepare and/or instruct both internal and external training programs as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialization
Perform administrative functions; such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet and expense reports on a complete timely, and thorough basis
Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary
Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work at customer sites
Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
Knowledge to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for wide range of equipment
Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages
Develop project scoping documents, schedules, work and safety plans to support customer outage milestones
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs from work orders and procedures that are assigned
Support Product Line improvements in the area of work execution and tooling development
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a Field Services role)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs twice per day
Ability to pass respirator fit test and physical
Ability to pass Fitness For Duty requirements and GE and Customer site security requirements to obtain unescorted access
Ability to work under high stress conditions
Ability and willingness to work in radiation controlled areas and radioactively contaminated areas
Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% to domestically and internationally plant sites
Ability and willingness to work 12 hrs/day and 7 days/week when needed for project delivery
Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Marine Engineering is preferred

The salary range for this position is $64k-$80k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus, and has the potential for remote work.
