General Electric Manufacturing Team Leader - Production Supervision- 3rd Shift in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Coach/Front Line Leader will be responsible for frontline and / or shift management and defined work or projects with moderate complexity. In this role, you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action and both short and long-term planning. This is a 3rd shift role.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing / technical escalation assistance and leadership to assigned work group

  • Manage production employees and production schedule requirements to include timekeeping, overtime, time off and discipline

  • Support and meet production schedules, drive productivity and quality initiatives, and manage the area within budget guidelines and controls

  • Utilize data analysis to improve safety, decrease quality defects, and increase productivity

  • Be knowledgeable, communicate, and enforce handbook and other plant policies

  • Interface with internal and external customers, define priorities for shift and work group leveraging the appropriate MDI structure for that shift/cell

  • Actively participate in Environment, Health and Safety initiatives and corrective actions

  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams and demonstrate necessary leadership and coaching skills to other team members

  • Take active role in coaching and growing their work group’s Flow Leader skills, as well as empower Flow Leaders in their cell ownership (if applicable)

  • Help train and develop skills of production employees; educate production employees on business strategy and metrics

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (OR Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR 4 years of military experience)

  • At least 3 years of coaching / supervisory / leadership experience

  • Must have the ability to work a 3rd shift position

  • Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn and work as technical expert

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize aggressive deadlines

  • Six Sigma training / Lean (GE employees only)

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated experience with effective coaching and/or creating growth opportunities for individuals
