General Electric Lead Quality Engineer for Accident Tolerant Fuel in Wilmington, North Carolina
Job Description Summary
The Accident Tolerant Fuel Quality Engineer role is responsible for stewardship of the entirety of quality development of the ARMOR activities including quality activities related with new materials development programs, qualification or integration of the material suppliers, and development of manufacturing equipment qualification plans
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities:
Perform Quality oversight activities during the Research and Development of ATF material activities and coordination during the transition to production activities
Provide technical guidance to suppliers toward assuring product/process compliance with engineering specification
Perform In-process supplier oversight activities such as, Supplier document processing, Quality review and approval of Purchase Order, Supplier Surveillances, and maintenance of the Approved Supplier List, if necessary
Write and review technical quality documentation plans and procedures
Coordinate with shop manufacturing operations the implementation of a system for material traceability, manufacturing quality plans, inspection methods and procedures for manufacturing quality control activities
Support internal and external audits
Use the corrective actions process to ensure future error prevention
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, industrial, or Materials engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing or quality functions with demonstrated technical aptitude
Desired Characteristics:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all level of the organization
Demonstrated familiarity of 10CFR50 Appendix B or ISO-9001 requirements
Knowledge of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s engineering and manufacturing processes
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office suite products and other business productivity applications (Adobe, ERP etc.)
Familiarity with Root / Apparent Cause Analysis tools / techniques
Ability and willingness to travel to other GEH/GE, and supplier facilities/sites
Demonstrated self-starter possessing strong initiative and teamwork skills
Strong oral and written communication skills, proven ability to develop team relationships
Minimum of 4 years of experience in materials engineering, manufacturing or quality functions.
