General Electric Lead CMM Programmer in Wilmington, North Carolina

Role Summary:The Lead CMM programmer will demonstrate leadership in supporting the plant CMM measurement needs including gaging and CMM’s. In the Lead CMM programmer role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and specify CMM purchases necessary to inspect to drawing and specification requirements

  • Plan and coordinate the activities of the CMM staff by managing CMM calibration responsibilities as assigned including: CMM programming / calibration; Measurement Audit Support; CMM Program revision control and Managing Contract CMM Programmers

  • Act as plant expert and interface regarding CMM measurements

  • Ensure a means of collecting and distributing compiled information in order to improve quality

  • Responsible for the administration of the plant CMM’s, including implementation and maintenance to regulatory requirements and standards such as applicable ISO standards

  • Ensure safe practices are used in compliance with all governmental regulations

  • Identify, drive, mentor, and implement projects that improve overall production quality

  • Work with Six Sigma Quality team to drive process changes

  • Conduct training to quality processes as needed

  • Responsible for the measurement accuracy of all CMM measurement systems

  • Drive Lean effort within manufacturing focusing on Quality


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering or quality)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or quality (including experience with editing and controlling CMM program revisions)

  • Strong working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality operations

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Ability to coach, manage, change and facilitate team performance

  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions

  • Six Sigma training
