Job Description Summary
The Internal Communications Leader is responsible for the development of business-wide strategies and plans to help employees connect to, and drive, our Nuclear purpose and priorities and understand the connection between their role and the business strategy and targeted outcomes. This role is expected to drive improved and deep engagement with employees, as well as to go beyond simple tactical delivery and instead ensure real culture change and business transformation.
Job Description
Essential responsibilities
Reinvent the internal communications ecosystem at GEH Nuclear (tools, processes, team, messaging, calendar, etc) in order to help transform the organization to be a dynamic, dialogue driven environment characterized by high levels of employee affinity and engagement. This includes identifying and implementing contemporary employee communication tools including listening tools for ongoing feedback.
Work with the Communications Leader to help develop an internal messaging framework and communications program that supports the CEO and senior leadership teams.
Develop and execute a united, global employee/organization communications strategy to engage all employees, and drive a culture focused on Nuclear’s purpose and strategy, while helping employees understand the connection between their role and the business outcomes.
Partner with key functions like HR to develop and execute communications plans including: business growth and transformation, culture surveys, diversity & inclusion agenda, Lean transformation, compensation & benefits, and performance development.
Partner with the rest of the Communications team to ensure 360-degree storytelling that is seamlessly integrated across all channels
Develop and deploy metrics that evaluate employee communications and recommend strategies for improvement, recognizing the virtual, digital and fast-moving world in which we live.
Plan, organize and support internal leadership events and forums as required.
Qualifications/Experience
5+ years internal communications experience in a large, global technology company.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Arts, English or a related field.
8+ years of experience in Corporate Communications in private or public sectors or communications experience covering organizational communications, PR or marketing communications or equivalent knowledge and experience
Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.

Proven track record acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives and recommending communications strategy to shape organizational cultures and tell the company story to key stakeholders; proven outcomes with regards to employee engagement improvement and managing complex change
Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, influential communications and to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously while working independently in a fast-paced environment
Experience in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and able to quickly build trust and relationships in order to influence a diverse set of leaders across GE’s global functions and businesses
Track record demonstrating the ability to formulate strategic communications plans and to also execute on tactical needs
Experience in communications channel management - effectively selecting the most beneficial channel mix depending on audience and desired outcomes
Experience in managing new platforms and tools for audience engagement
Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills who is a self-starter
Creative thinker, with proven ability to generate new ideas
Excellent oral & written communications skills with ability to simplify complex issues and act quickly with sensitivity to a range of external perspectives
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills
Successful people leadership record
Ability to prioritize multiple projects
