Job Description Summary
The Government Accounting Manager will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
As the Government Accounting Manager you will:
Manage financial compliance within government programs
Ensure the government business programs are in compliance with US Federal, State and local Government accounting rules and regulations; FAR, DFARS, CAS, DEARS, etc.
Lead government program audits performed under the Single Audit Act
Lead efficient and effective setting of rates, billing applying them to different types of US government contracts
Keep awareness of any government rate changes and communicate/apply as appropriate
Provide oversight over contractor resources performing bookkeeping and reporting functions for financial compliance
Prepare/review monthly invoices to the government agencies for project expense reimbursements.
Lead contact for reporting and analysis of monthly results for project labor cost
Compile data and create accruals for monthly and annual closings
Manage the expense reimbursement accounting for travel and living
Identify and implement internal control and process improvements as needed
Assist in the preparation of presentations to management, staff, customers and sub-contractors
Perform account reconciliations for government balances
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years’ government accounting experience
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial or government reporting including managing a team
FAR 15 contracting experience
Advanced Accounting knowledge
Energetic, enthusiastic, self-starter with ability to take initiative
Detailed oriented with excellent project management skills
Excellent interpersonal, written / verbal communication, and leadership skills
Proficient in problem solving and prioritizing
Work effectively with all levels of employees
Able to handle multiple tasks under pressure
Advanced Excel skills
