General Electric Engineering Operations Manager in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Engineering Operations Manager will provide support to the entire Engineering organization and senior leadership team. In this role, you will be critical in managing employee development activities across the employee lifecycle, reviewing metrics related to the engineering team and coordinating employee development and culture improvement activities. You will be part of a team that works hard to add value for existing nuclear customers, while also bringing new low cost, carbon free, baseload power to people around the world.

Essential Responsibilities

Critical to success of the rapidly expanding Engineering organization, is the coordination of technical onboarding and indoctrination activities for newly hired Engineering employees. Streamlining technical trainings, consolidating duplicative manager tasks and creating a consistent approach to assimilating dispersed employees during high volume staffing periods is the most immediate need.

Develop and implement a Nuclear Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) to meet the needs of the current organization and corporate requirements. Provide oversight to program participants. This technical and leadership development program seeks and grows exceptional talent, providing an attractive option for engineers to gain additional expertise, experiences, training and education. Re-establishing a Nuclear version of the program is a key initiative to growing a pipeline of valuable talent within our business.

Other responsibilities:

  • Represent the Engineering organization in certain internal business committees such as the Corrective Action Review Board (CARB) and the Condition Review Group (CRG).

  • Coordinate with first line managers on formalized Knowledge, Capture and Transfer (KC&T) plans.

  • Coordinate operational metrics across Engineering, analyzing areas for process improvements and cultural changes. Drive culture survey results and action plans.

  • Partner with the Chief Diversity Officer on diversity metrics and initiatives.

  • Lead other cross-organizational strategic initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an Applied Science.

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in Engineering.
