General Electric Data Visualization Engineer in Wilmington, North Carolina
Role Summary:As a Data Visualization Engineer you will develop innovative data visualization solutions to support internal data & analytics team. The team ingests, preps, and publishes core data sets across various business functions (Core Finance, FP&A, Quality, Sales, Global Supply Chain, Services, Business KPIs etc.). The Data Visualization Engineering Specialist will partner with data engineers, data scientists, and key end users to help deliver re-useable reporting and analysis solutions.
Essential Responsibilities:The Data Visualization Engineer will be part of a data engineering or cross-disciplinary team on internally-facing development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. Implement Data warehouse & Big/Small data designs using visualization tools such as Tableau. The Data Visualization Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of data acquisition, data transformation, and analytics scheduling and operationalization to drive high-visibility outcomes.
As the Data Visualization Engineer you will:
Apply standards on when to use specific charts and formats
Collaborate with the lead ETL/ELT expert in the Data & Analytics team.
Acquire domain Subject Matter Expertise (Supply Chain, Engineering, etc.) across IT systems by working closely with business partners, documenting learnings centrally.
Look across multiple systems and understand the purpose of each system and define data requirements by system
Architect and model dashboards and user interactions based on customer requirements
Building advanced dashboards for executive-level views of the entire business
Operate in Agile framework, creating user stories from and tasks from customer requirements to track project progress
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in STEM
Experience in various querying languages (SQL, PL/SQL, HQL, etc.)
Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
Agile software development process & tools
Use teamwork skills to understand vision, achieve goals, solve problems, and manage conflict.
Inform stakeholders of key issues, identifies potential problems or conflicts and resolves them when necessary.
Produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts
A working knowledge of design & development of data centric applications leveraging data from enterprise data warehouses and other sources
Familiarity with Talend and/or Informatica administration and configurations
A working understanding of Tableau administration and configurations or other visual analysis tool
