Job Description Summary

Value Engineering is a practice focused on driving continuous cost-out and value optimization across GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Advanced Nuclear product offerings. Members of Value Engineering will act as a team charged with identifying valuable features, functions & articles across the full portfolio & determining alternate means, methods & approaches to solutions with an aim towards unlocking the maximum value-based opportunity for GE Hitachi.

Job Description

The Value Engineer will, on a daily basis, generate cost optimized ideas, review cost data and integrate cross functionally to build a business case, and execute the plan to realize the savings for the business. In addition to this, the employee will hold larger idea generation sessions to continually develop ideas to pursue.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Generate cost optimization ideas through a rigorous cost data analysis and/or developing new approaches to established processes

  • Conduct analytics and parametric modeling to assist management teams in setting cost targets and to support the org in negotiation and translation into business case / projects

  • Harmonize and participate in a gated VE process with functional organizations (Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing) to drive resource allocation and pacing through the lifecycle of project ideas.This will include ideation, business case development, activity planning, project management with execution teams, project execution & value realization

  • Drive implementation of project plans until full value capture

  • Across core systems, VE will conduct teardowns, ideate, and should-cost parts to identify potential for reducing cost and balancing value

  • Across non-core systems, VE will support the efforts of the Systems Architecture team. This will include challenging specs and should-costing parts to identify potential for cost reductions (“make” components) and challenge supplier prices against best-in-class (“buy” components).

  • Build and codify cost analysis knowledge and capabilities

  • Create long-term and sustainable products within GEH for generating business value through cost-out efforts

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of related experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or business-related discipline.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Legally eligible to access/possess U.S. Export Control technology.

  • Drives execution of tasks and influences through formal channels and informal network

  • Track record of engineering problem solving; experience running design to value programs (DtV), should cost analyses, teardowns, or cost engineering.

  • Proven experience in product lifecycle cost analysis e.g. material, manufacturing costs, assembly and logistics cost.

  • Knowledgeable across industrial product portfolio at the component level, financials, and commercial level

  • Deep knowledge of the power generation marketplace

The salary range for this position is $ 91,500k - $122,000k . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
