General Electric Lead Engineer, WMC Rotor Systems Testing in Wieringerwerf, Netherlands
Job Description Summary
As the “WMC Rotor Systems Testing”, you will execute projects related to strength and lifetime testing of wind turbine rotor systems, comprising development of test plans, execution of tests and reporting of results.
And you will be contributing to internal projects to continuously improve our working processes. This includes among others the design and development of tailor made test equipment and tooling, development of work instructions, and development of reporting tools.
You will be working in a dynamic team of professionals sharing the ambition to fulfil strategic and business needs of the company.
Key responsibilities include:
Define (or contribute to the definition of) rotor test plans including the preparation of a project plan, determining the project budget, planning of resources and facilities, etc.
Execute (or contribute to the execution of) rotor test projects:
from receiving the test request from (internal and external) customers;
via preparing detailed test plan, with instrumentation and DAQ system;
installing and preparing the devices under testing;
analyzing test results;
up to and including reporting results to the customer.
Operate the newly developed rotor systems test rigs and assist in the maintenance of the rigs.
Develop new test methods and measurement systems (hardware and software) and continuously improve existing ones.
Ensure that measurement systems are within calibration.
Develop quality procedures, work instructions and/or templates for all related activities like testing and reporting.
Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment and execution of test projects.
Manage tasks that will be outsourced to third parties like consultants, construction companies and/or suppliers.
You have a bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
You have experience in executing test and measurement projects, preferably related to strength and fatigue of mechanical systems.
You have experience in designing and operating test rigs and measurement systems.
You do not only execute the work, but also manage the administration, planning, safety and quality aspects.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid permit to work and live in European Union.
It is an advantage if you have:
Good understanding of control systems.
Experience in software development.
Experience with CAD and 3D systems for mechanical designs.
Understand the design and operation of wind turbines and their main systems.
You work in a structured manner and comply with EHS and Quality regulations.
You have proven communication skills and can effectively collaborate with local and global team members.
You can execute and coordinate several tasks simultaneously, while having effective problem identification and solution skills.
You can work independently and sometimes under challenging conditions.
