General Electric Sr Staff Digital Product Manager- ADMS in West Melbourne, Florida

Role Summary:

GE Power Software solutions designs and develops electric utility solutions focused on Transmission, Distribution and Asset Management. The Senior Product Manager will join the Distribution line of business, however will need to have knowledge across the portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth Advance Distribution Management (ADMS) software product management experience coupled with industry specific domain knowledge.

Essential Responsibilities:

Key areas of knowledge and experience include; but are not limited to: Distribution Operating Systems Management, Advanced Power Applications, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) enablement and orchestration, outage management and response; including mobility and field force automation.

The candidate must be self-driven and accountable for results. They must be able to thrive in a fast paced, competitive environment and at times navigate ambiguous and highly-matrixed environments.

As the one of our global domain experts for ADMS, you will engage cross-functional teams and customers at senior and executive level management and technical levels to help develop and align a comprehensive product portfolio strategy; influence customer decisions and help direct customer rationale toward execution against the business product strategy.

While based in North America, the role will have responsibilities to address product requirements across GE’s global footprint. You will be accountable for developing business case rationale and successfully driving an ADMS roadmap vision which includes the tactical inter-dependencies across Transmission, Distribution and Asset Management to enable expansion of existing product solutions while also developing new GE software products; inclusive of making recommendations on how to extend existing software solutions or build migration plans to upgrade. The Product manager will represent General Electric and the Product Line(s) to the outside market, including customers, partners and analysts.

The role has broad responsibilities targeted at developing a sales order and execution of strategy for ADMS product line so that it also complements and expands the other lines of SWS business. In addition, in this role you will:

  • Drive strategy and tactics that enable execution of the Distribution Line of Business 5-year vision

  • Adjudicate internal and external competitive priorities that align with strategy and tactics

  • Identify roadmap requirements while balancing competing commitments

  • Perform market analysis to define and target opportunities

  • Directly work with prospects and customers to understand requirements and define system enhancements and/or process improvements to make the system adaptable and valuable to specific operations within utilities [primarily electric]

  • Develop and refine and attain customer acceptance of the value for specific utility applications

  • Research the competitive environment; develop differentiators and license pricing strategy

  • Define and guide multi-generational product plans that define the evolution of system features

  • Develop strategies and orders and sales forecasts for the planning and forecasting

  • Contribute to proposals and quotations for both production requisitions and pilot projects

  • Collaborate with development and engineering to define internally funded product development objectives, budgets and schedules

  • Work with the global sales force to develop customer contacts and selling strategies

  • Conduct product/system training for sales force personnel

  • Negotiate contract terms, conditions, deliverables Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in product management as a senior leader

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Melbourne, FL, Redmond, WA, or Denver, CO Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Prior experience with GE ADMS platforms (e.g., e-Terra and/or Power On) and/or experience with other competitive ADMS solutions from competitive market players.

  • Proactively drives portfolio and investment decision to balance customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long-term enterprise differentiation. Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings and considers business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations

  • Defines and/or influences pricing strategy for product/ services and alignment across functions and organizations

  • Aligns goals, feature sets, capabilities to business objectives for the product (i.e. Profitability, ROI, Market Penetration, Channel development, Brand Development, etc.)

  • Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills

  • Evangelizes new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends

  • Identifies the customer’s business and strategic needs, concerns, and desires for the value delivery capabilities of the products

  • Establishes relationships in the market intelligence and research community

  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with other GE businesses

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to help build effective processes
