Job Title: Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Components – LEAP Engine Program
Role Summary/Purpose:
Ready to take the LEAP to GE Aerospace? Are you an experienced mechanical design engineer ready to join a team working on the fastest growing engine in aviation history? The GE Aerospace Engineering Team needs you! The LEAP engine is a culmination of cutting-edge technology, world-class reliability, and unparalleled performance, and is the engine of choice to power the Airbus A320neo, the Boeing 737 MAX, and the COMAC C919 jet airliners.
Why is this technology the engine of choice? LEAP's 15% reduction in fuel burn (over prior generation of narrowbody applications) is moving the needle on sustainability today and proving out the next generation of sustainable technologies like ceramic composites, advanced turbine cooling, and additive manufacturing.
Our LEAP engine incorporates some of GE's latest technological innovations which are challenging our engineers to test the limits of what is possible and define non-traditional design solutions that keep GE Aerospace at the forefront of innovation.

You will help us leverage operational judgement, technical expertise and leadership skills on turbine machinery design and product improvement activities that ultimately power our customers, lift people up and bring them home safely.
What are the responsibilities? The Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer:
Executes, provides guidance, and collaborates with GE Technical Experts on the design, analysis, and evaluation of design projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and LEAP product / program requirements
Documents, prepares and presents technical data and results in technical program reviews and internal and external customers.
Demonstrates in-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work as well as mentor others
Provides timely communications to team members on significant issues or developments and promote open dialogue
Works on teams to lift up and support organizational initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
At least 5 years experience in an engineering design position
Desired Characteristics:
Demonstrated expertise in turbomachinery mechanical design
Significant experience in the design, testing, and certification of turbomachinery
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and principles
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization and provide guidance to engineers with less experience
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems with a sense of urgency
