General Electric Lead Engineer - Combustion Aerodynamics in West Chester, Ohio
Job Description Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the aerodynamic design, development, and validation of aviation gas turbine combustion system. Specifically, leading development rig and engine test campaigns, encompassing planning, monitoring, data reduction and documentation. You will utilize your test experience or expertise to solve problems, develop & execute mitigations, provide technical guidance, and capture lessons learned for future campaigns. These skills will be applied to new product introduction (NPI) as well as sustaining programs.
Lead Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. Your expertise will be utilized to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support conceptual or theoretical activities aimed at optimizing the combustion and emissions performances
Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
Lead planning, execution, review, and report-out of component & engine test campaigns
Collaborate with mechanical and test operations team to successfully execute test campaign
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Develop and protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
Individual contributor role with proven interpersonal skills
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college (Or, a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position with focus on combustion
Master’s (thesis) / Ph.D. (preferred) degree in Engineering from an accredited university with focus on combustion
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Flexible & friendly approach to working in teams – both domestic and global
Interest in being a self-starter with an eye towards problem solving and driving solutions
Highly motivated, passionate, and exceptional communication skills
Proven facilitation and collaboration skills
Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
Matlab and Python proficiency
