Job Description Summary

The GE9X product line has completed engine certification and is actively supporting Boeing aircraft certification efforts. In addition, several product improvement design efforts are underway targeting a reduction in customer maintenance burden. The Senior Staff Engineer – Systems Integration will be responsible for integration of GE9X engine systems with Boeing 777X airframe systems. The GE9X engine is the world’s largest turbofan engine that powers the next-generation Boeing 777X wide-body passenger jet. Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a broad engineering team integrating engine systems.

  • Communicate with airframer to coordinate engineering efforts related to system integration.

  • Lead the technical project management aspects of the GE9X Reverse Bleed System (RBS).

  • Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long range engineering needs

  • Provide technical consultation on product problems throughout the business including supplier and field support

  • Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact

  • Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, apply, adapt or develop technologies for product introduction, quality, performance, cost improvements and problem resolution in meeting current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs

  • Support other GE businesses, internal and external customers, and suppliers as required

  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters

  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science (or high school diploma/6 years of discipline centered GE Experience inSystems Engineering)

  • At least 6 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity
