General Electric Ceramic Development Engineer in West Chester, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Additive Ceramic Development Engineer will be responsible for developing new ceramic slurry formulations for use in Additive manufacturing. In this role, you will develop post-printing firing/sintering techniques and cycles to achieve the required material properties. This will include characterization of material properties through all steps of the process. Other responsibilities will include writing technical proposals to apply for government funding. This role will be responsible for finding vendors of raw materials and characterizing those incoming raw materials.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and monitor the development of new ceramic slurries and the thermal processing cycles from inception through implementation.

  • Author and audit process specific work instructions, statements of work, and standard operating practices.

  • Assess processes, take measurements, interpret data, and document results.

  • Effectively communicate project outcomes to senior leadership.

  • Lead projects intended to run, test, and improve additive processes.

  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve technology and processes related to additive manufacturing of parts.

  • Provide additive process development history and documentation.

  • Develop and manage plans for new introductions or changes to slurry formulations based on customer requirements.

  • Interface with a cross functional team to ensure business outcomes around safety, quality, lean, and delivery are achieved.

  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

  • Will be expected to interact with Design, EMS, Quality, hardware owners and equipment manufacturers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering, chemistry, or physics preferred

  • 3+ years’ experience working with ceramic material and process development

  • Lean Six Sigma experience and/or formal training.

  • Experience using statistical tools and concepts (Excel, Minitab, Cpk, ANOVA)

  • Experience with CAD and STL models

  • Knowledge of process related standards of GE Aviation.
