General Electric Sr. Engineering Director - LCS Data Platform in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

In this role, you will serve as a key leader in the newly established horizontal platform organization within the Life Care Solutions Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of GE Healthcare that spans seven operating business segments. The role will report to the SBU Chief Technology Officer.

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for building out the platform organization, process stewardship, stake holder management and deliver outcomes that are expected from the platform. You will establish strategic objectives, operational goals, budgets, and management system for delivery and governance, and drive continuous improvement. This role will define and own platform governance processes, champion the adoption, and drive the integration of platforms into the portfolio of applications that span the business segments.

You should have led large global teams, managed multiple product development programs & successfully run product platform initiatives and run large scale change initiatives in a product engineering organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage a high performing global engineering team with substantial presence in India.

  • Accountable for a direct operational budget, with full responsibility for forecasting, cost management, scenario planning, modeling, and target achievement.

  • Responsible for people leadership activities including recruiting, development, performance management, retention, compensation, organization, and teaming.

  • Establish strategy, collaborate with stakeholders to build realization plan for different platform deliverables and sustainable operations.

  • Stewardship of Agile and modern software development engineering practices.

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across multiple business units and customers and be their trusted advisor.

  • Establish management processes to ensure program execution, risk management and quality metrics are on track.

  • Responsible for platform governance model elements, ensure timely communications and conflict resolutions with product lines.

  • Establish & sustain state of the art development methodologies and engineering infrastructure that deliver speed, efficiency, and quality.

  • Represent platforms on different internal and external forums and in leadership forums at multiple levels in the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • 15 years of professional experience in software development.

  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience in technology and engineering operations in a product development organization.

  • Experience working with a cross-functional, geographically dispersed team and customer base.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience running product development programs across the product lifecycle – from concept to end of product life. Ideally experience managing these types of programs - New Product Development, Installed Base Management, Advanced Technology Development, Customer co-creation/early concept validation using Lean Start up principles.

  • Experience in developing and sustaining product platforms and managing platform lifecycle.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and manage partnerships with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds – product management, operations, finance, engineering, business leadership, human resources, field service, IT, at various levels of the organization.

  • Strong, clear, and simple communicator who operates as a credible and respected spokesperson internally and externally, with demonstrated ability and experiences to simplify complex technical concepts to a diverse group of stakeholders – CEO staff, Customers, Employees at different levels, Functional/Internal partners, and External collaborators.

  • MedTech/Health IT development experience & expertise in health IT interoperability standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovations – experience in customer co-creation, establishing cultures that promote innovation and risk taking, preferably in a regulated environment.

  • Experience with cloud technologies, hybrid computing, modern development methodologies and cloud operations.

  • Experience with implementing strategies and technologies to deliver cyber security, data privacy and high availability.

  • Knowledge of modern development tools, integrated build systems and DevOps.
