Job Description Summary

Edison Digital Infrastructure Solutions organization unit is looking for a Sr. Manager – Software Engineering, who will lead the engineering team and help in creating a useful and desirable software product and service experiences. As the leader of the team, this person shall lead the team in all aspects including management of unit operations along with developing and delivering software of high quality.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Direct reports may consist of individual contributors and/or contractors.

  • Leadership is demonstrated through team leadership and knowledge in a specific technical area/s.

  • Demonstrate deeper expertise in engineering methodologies/tools and drive best practices.

  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate the technical knowledge through program management and contributions to product strategy.

  • Provides coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities, etc. to direct reports.

  • Develop, maintain, and support high-quality, valuable releases of application software.

  • Provide technical, people, and process leadership.

  • Staff and develop a proficient software development team.

  • Define and evangelize cloud-related optimizations and best practices to improve reliability and performance.

  • Work closely with global, cross-functional stakeholders to deliver the valuable outcomes our customer’s desire.

  • Work with product managers and architects to develop software technology roadmaps.

  • Communicate effectively with leadership, providing transparency to the status, quality, and throughput of work through metrics and reviews.

  • Supervise and provide technical leadership to technical staff and ensure compliance with appropriate policies.

  • Identify and respond to technology related professional growth needs for all staff members and train staff appropriately.

  • Participate in budgeting, process and manage IT Infrastructure related projects and investments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in the software domain or a master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.

  • Minimum 2 year of experience in an engineering or program leadership / management role handling complex projects or programs.

  • Proven analytical and problem resolution skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective team building and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience in leading team, practicing Scrum, Kanban and Agile Development Methodologies.

  • Experience in developing/managing software applications using cloud technology, and experience delivering cloud-native software applications with mature continuous deployment practices.

  • Experience in leading/managing or working on IoT solutions is highly desired

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in design, performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure.

  • Understand cloud solution approaches from a technical (infrastructure), service management, financial and sourcing perspective.

  • Experience at designing and building advanced automated Infrastructure deployment frameworks. Communicate with and influence leadership and business stakeholders, with confidence and clarity.
