Job Description Summary
The Lead Systems Designer leads the engineering team to deliver the technical content of a program. This position has responsibility for driving the design objectives required to meet customer and business needs, including feature and functionality, quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacture-ability, regulatory, compliance and cost. The LSD uses a systems approach to translating user needs into requirements and applying them to the system and component architecture.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Drives the design requirements for the product while balancing implementation complexity, risks, manufacturability, serviceability and quality.
Drives requirements flow down, system design and analysis, risk analysis, integration and test, manufacturing, field and customer support including corrective and preventative actions to ensure customer satisfaction.
Develops the strategy and plan for key program milestones.
Leads the engineering team from design planning through design transfer, as well as verification and validation.
Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives
Ensures that the product quality targets are satisfied, and technical risks are retired as they arise on the program.
Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical or related field)
Minimum of 5 years relative work experience working in hardware, software, network, or systems design with technical depth in at least one engineering discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in new product development.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to understand program needs, formulate a strategy and lead the engineering team through successful outcomes
Desired Characteristics:
Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical or related field)
6 or more years of experience working in electrical, mechanical, hardware, software, or systems design with technical depth in at least one engineering discipline
Experience working in a Systems Engineering team
Knowledge of the IEC 60601 family of Medical Electrical Equipment safety and performance specifications
Demonstrated technical domain knowledge by being current on engineering design principles, architectures and advancements in clinical and engineering concepts and technologies
Outstanding communication, facilitation and influencing skills; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
High passion and energy and ability to energize others
Experience working on global teams
Strong analytical, trouble-shooting skills
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to listen to customers, build relationships, and work under pressure.
Experience working with medical devices
