Job Description Summary

Drives productivity initiatives, owns the wing to wing Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) target and drive projects globally for the Ultrasound Probes business. This VCP leader will partner with GM’s & Functional Managers to drive strategies that will meet short/long term business goals. This person will be responsible for the Probes VCP Operating Plan including: operating mechanisms, team development, quarterly cost savings reporting, process improvements, tool development, annual budget cycles to generate productivity targets, funnel generation and best practice sharing. Program and project manages as necessary

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner with Functional Leaders (such as Engineering, Sourcing, Finance, & Supply Chain) to set the strategy and ensure cost improvement projects are aligned with the Ultrasound Probes road map and business priorities.

  • Partner with Probes Finance Leaders and develop the mechanism for financial ledger analysis for cost reduction projects and establish and track the VCP measures and Inventory Carrying Value (ICV’s) with New Product Introductions (NPI’s)

  • Lead and manage cross functional “Disruptive Cost Workout” on products that are of strategic importance to the business, ensure feasibility, and develop the execution strategy.

  • Drive identification of VCP opportunities and develop appropriate project, action, and resource plans. Establish clear priorities in cost reduction. Ensure project execution, effective operating mechanisms, and manage deviations to plans.

  • Establish, lead, train, and motivate cross-functional teams. Provide direction, functional support, enable resource allocation, and remove obstacles that impact productivity.

  • Analyze financial, cost data and drives cross-functional disruptive cost workouts. Drive daily management incorporating lean culture and problem solving

  • Develop rigorous metrics, scorecards, and control plans to follow up and measure the changes. Partner with process owners, project leaders, and the Senior Leadership team to ensure changes occur and that improvement gains are sustained and measurable.

  • Review ongoing performance results to targets, takes corrective measures anticipate and escalate issues if necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline

  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in an engineering or project leadership role

  • Demonstrated execution at meeting project goals while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and budget targets.

  • Demonstrated competency in providing leadership and direction to global cross-functional programs and teams.

  • Demonstrated experience driving variable cost productivity (VCP) and Inventory Carrying Value (ICV) reduction to enable optimized product margins.

  • Demonstrated project and change management skills including leading action workouts, developing resource plans, and creating communication strategies.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline.

  • 10+ years of knowledge and project leadership experience in simplifying and leaning out processes to yield increased results.

  • Strategic planner and thinker with ability to innovate and drive change in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative leadership skills: exhibits willingness to engage other business partners within the organization, is innovative, creative and a team player with a solution-based approach to capture opportunities and remove barriers.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with GE product development processes and experience with the full product lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of GE sourcing and manufacturing processes.

  • Clear thinking: Simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information, and communicating priorities clearly and concisely.

  • Detail oriented and demonstrated experience tracking product costs and efficiency improvements.

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation.

  • Proven ability to identify, own and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with cross-functional decision maker
