Job Description Summary
GE Healthcare is seeking an experienced embedded S/W engineer to help improve patient lives in moments that matter. In this role, you will be challenged to use your technical skillset and problem-solving abilities by joining a global product development team in developing software for the next generation of electrocardiographs.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Utilize Agile software development methods in designing, documenting, coding, and performing verification throughout the full product lifecycle, including prototype development, product release, and installed base support
Organize reviews of embedded firmware platform designs and source code
Collaborate on design reviews for embedded hardware and software platforms
Establish and execute test plans and unit testing
Work closely with other embedded platform engineers to create new designs and resolve or debug software, hardware, and system issues
Qualifications/Requirements
Experience with elements of software design life cycle (SDLC)
Strong C/C++ coding/debugging skills
Strong understanding of object oriented design principles
Experienced developing device drivers on Linux or other embedded OS.
Understanding of analog and digital hardware components, designs and schematic
Knowledge of other languages and scripting languages such as python, bash shell, or power shell
Experience with continuous integration and other concepts to develop high quality software
Experience with at least one software unit test framework
Understanding of deterministic design, design for reliability, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA’s).
Familiar with elements of embedded systems, including the following:
A/D converters and DSP’s
Digital and analog filters
ARM microcontroller platforms such as ST Micro or Atmel
Embedded peripherals and interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, DAC, USB, PWM, FLASH, or EEPROM
Experience with diagnostic tools for CPU and memory analysis.
Required Characteristics
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related technical field.
At least 4 years of experience in an embedded software development environment
Ability to work in a team environment and be self-directed.
Desired Characteristics
7 + years experience in an embedded software development environment for medical devices or in other regulated industries
Experience in electrocardiography (ECG) systems
Ability to read and understand schematics, electrical component data sheets, and tech notes.
Deep understanding how hardware interfaces work.
