Job Overview:

The GHEC Ultrasound business consists of ultrasound consoles, handheld ultrasound devices, and ultrasound IT solutions across 6 different market segments. As customers’ needs for more and consistent digital solutions continue to grow, the market for digital ultrasound solutions advances. Our mission with Ultrasound Digital Ecosystems is to develop a seamlessly connected world of devices and software that creates additional value to end users and customers beyond devices alone. Solutions will connect clinicians, increase user confidence, improve efficiency, and provide affordable cloud solutions across customers segments and demographics. We are looking for an experienced Software Architect for our digital ecosystems team.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for overall digital platform/ecosystem architecture across ultrasound for one or more digital capabilities including scalability, performance efficiency, maintainability, and security

  • Lead, consult, or oversee multiple architecture engagements, working on highly complex programs or projects that require in-depth domain knowledge

  • Analyze requirements, assess and make tradeoff decisions related to technology choices, develop architecture, and create technology roadmaps for one or more digital platform capabilities

  • Lead and coordinate the team, stakeholders, and business partners to make translate design architecture into a functioning software solution, removing technical obstacles, defining design standards, and establish performance expectations

  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, build proof of concepts, complete tool & design evaluations, and prepare & present design proposals

  • Subject matter expert in software processes and methodologies including design, architecture, development, continuous Integration and delivery with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations

  • Participate in business-wide planning, strategy, and governance

  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentor others

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • 10+ years of technical & professional experience (OR Master’s degree with 8+ years of technical & professional experience)

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Desired Characteristics:

Technical Expertise:

  • Proven track record of successful problem definition, decomposition, and project estimation

  • Expert level skills in design, architecture and development, with an ability to go deep into implementation details as needed while maintaining broad understanding and governance of overall architecture

  • Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architectural requirements at domain level, aligning architectural requirements with software development strategy

  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns, cybersecurity principals, and XaaS design approaches including DevOps

  • Experience developing products using multi-platform development tech stacks

  • Proficient in cloud development and architecture, REST Web Services, Microservice Architecture, Distributed Systems, multi-tenancy, orchestration, scalability, Web UI/UX, and edge computing

  • Proficient in C/C++, Java, HTML5/JS/Web Frameworks, Docker/Kubernetes, and other tech stacks related to cloud (and/or demonstrated ability to quickly learn)

  • Proficiency in or ability to learn medical device interconnectivity technologies including application layer protocols like DICOM, HL7 etc.

  • Proficient in Mobile Application Development

Business Acumen:

  • Expert in navigating through ambiguity and prioritizing conflicting requirements

  • Create, analyze and manage projects that provide direct business benefit; demonstrate detailed knowledge of business operations and strategic direction, including merger & acquisition opportunities;

  • Understands Medical Device Software Design Principals, requirements for meeting various country regulatory clearances, and demonstrates awareness of industry dynamics

  • Understand industry trends and competitive landscape and the implications for GEHC business

Leadership:

  • Leads and facilitates architecture governance processes, oversees technical program plans, and leads architectural assessments and tradeoffs

  • Provides expertise in design, architecture, development, continuous integration and delivery

  • Recommends allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/program success and develops the business case for approval

  • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others on the team to improve technical excellence; mentors junior peers in architecture concepts

  • Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives, that leads to recommendations for innovation or enhancements, and that examines analysis of consequences.

  • Influences through others; uses experts or other third parties to influence; builds direct and "behind the scenes" (indirect) support for ideas
