Job Description Summary

As part of the R&D team, the Systems Engineer – Imaging, you'll be working on the characterization and integration of hardware components and the design and optimization of image processing algorithms to deliver top quality medical X-Ray images. Additional activities include contributing to the definition of features & architectures, identification and documentation of requirements, design details, and verification procedures and reports, integration tests, and providing support to manufacturing and field issues.

Job Description


  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of imaging features, work across functions in the definition, requirements identification, implementation, integration, and verification.

  • Work with customers, marketing, clinical, and field personnel to identify and refine requirement flow-down to imaging feature.

  • Test and characterize component features that impact image quality.

  • Define how components will be integrated into the product to achieve image quality goals.

  • Develop, optimize and/or integrate traditional and AI based image processing algorithms.

  • Develop initial prototypes, perform tests to characterize performance, gather clinical feedback as needed, summarize and review results with other engineers.

  • Develop requirements, design, verification, technical reviews, and other technical documentation.

  • Work with other teams in the implementation of imaging features.

  • Execute formal verification tests and create appropriate documentation as needed.

  • Own and/or support root cause investigation of issues for released and unreleased products.

  • Develop methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on image quality.

  • Provide domain expertise to serve as the main integrator between hardware and software to deliver the best image quality in X-ray products.

  • Work independently and contribute to achieve project goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or closely related discipline and 1 years of relevant experience.

  • Proficient in the use of software tools for analysis, simulation, and user interface development (MATLAB, Python, etc.).

  • Proven ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems.

  • Effective communication skills and boundary-less behavior—ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated ability to pursue tasks to completion.

  • Broad exposure to HW/SW/Systems design, and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc) and/or in Physics/Math.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Masters/PhD in in “STEM” majors (Physics, Technology, Engineering and Math).

  • Prior working experience and understanding of X-ray detectors and X-Ray physics.

  • Proficient in using software tools to perform image processing algorithm design, image analysis and simulations.

  • Experience in medical image processing, algorithm development, and algorithm configuration optimization for medical X-Ray images.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented and able to multi-task.

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation.
