Job Description Summary
This Sr. Staff Software Architect for the Digital Platforms organization will be a member of a team leading the software architecture, design, and team leadership activities of the Edison Health Services (EHS)/Edison Health Link (EHL) platform. This Platform integrates SW applications, SW platforms, and compute HW from across GE Healthcare and platform teams including technologies from across GE and from industry leading 3rd party digital solution providers.
This role will be responsible for helping define the next generation digital EHS/EHL stack. You will be working on multiple Proof of Concept (POC)/Advanced Technology (ATD) projects to evaluate & risk retire various technologies, partners, and solutions especially leveraging Cloud Native technologies for on premise and cloud deployment. You will help lead a team responsible for the end to end lifecycle of certain parts of the stack from architecture and conceptual design all the way through installed base and obsolescence management.
You will work closely with the Principal and Chief Architects on highly complex projects that require in-depth domain knowledge in the Cloud Native space.

In this role you will:
Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across the product portfolio or product line.
Analyze design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at domain level within product portfolio or team.
Participate in the EA (Enterprise Architecture) domain governance model.
Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
Coordinate Technical Design Reviews (Concept, Development, and Evaluation TDR’s).
Partner with the broader architecture office and technical product management teams to help build, groom, and prioritize backlogs for your area of responsibility.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
12+ years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across disciplines and functions within a product OR Master’s degree with 8 years of experience OR PhD with 5 years of experience in Software Architecture work.
GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed.

5+ years full-time experience in enterprise software architecture – emphasis on implementation of scalable cloud/cloud native technical solutions in products.
Experience with digital solution concepts such as cybersecurity, SW virtualization, SW containerization, connectivity protocols, microservice architecture, application design, data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Good working knowledge of developing distributed solutions using following technologies -
Cloud and containerization technologies, like Kubernetes, OpenShift, OpenStack, DockerSwarm, Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, etc
IaaS SW technologies including sw defined storage, networking, Linux operating systems, hypervisors, etc
Service Oriented Architecture, Microservices
Frameworks and API paradigm such as Spring, Spring Boot, REST, OSGi
Relational and NoSQL databases
Understanding of enterprise architecture patterns, especially on meeting performance, scalability, and reliability CTQs.
Participates in domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals.
Gathers and analyzes data and develops architectural requirements at project level, aligning architectural requirements with software development strategy.
Reviews exceptions and makes recommendations to architectural standards at a domain level.
Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills -communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans.
Exposure to iterative product development and program management techniques including Agile, FastWorks, and use of a CI/CD development pipeline.
- Demonstrate knowledge of business' structure (P&Ls) and the interplay of functions to support business goals; demonstrate knowledge of the business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.
