General Electric Sr Manager - Cyber Security in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Role Summary:

Senior Manager Cyber Security within our Incident Response function to jhelp protect our enterprise environment and our product & commercial cloud environments from cyber-related threats. This role includes the oversight, coordination, and management of incident response and remediation of cyber security incidents. You will manage a team of incident handlers and responders as well as work alongside other GE teams in driving this effort.

Essential Responsibilities:

You are an information and cyber security incident manager driven to implement and improve upon enterprise-class response strategies, with a focus on setting and improving the future-state direction of the incident response program at scale. This role includes managing and mentoring a team of incident handlers & responders. You and your team will work through security incidents, communicate their disposition and drive expedient recovery. You will ensure that all business environments have integrated and validated monitoring that feeds into our “eyes-on-glass” capability. You will also support the onboarding of new environments or new detection sources as needed and assure that monitoring is operationalized. In this role, you will also coordinate tactical and strategic intelligence products, develop and communicate key metrics and drive any related projects as directed by and supporting business objectives. You will have demonstrable leadership abilities as well as a strong comprehension of emerging threats, defensive technologies and familiarity with agile methodologies.

In this role, you will:

  • Leverage hands-on experience in threat prevention, response and detection

  • Manage, coordinate and recover from incidents and threats against GE Healthcare

  • Continually mature the incident response program

  • Develop and improve upon threat-intelligence capabilities

  • Develop and report on metrics, as well as enact improvements identified by metrics reviews

  • Effectively communicate incident briefing sessions both written and spoken

  • Lead larger scale individual and matrixed initiatives as directed by management

  • Nurture and mentor a diverse team in both technical and soft-skill areas

  • Lead efforts to onboard new environments and detection sources (cloud, OT/Engineering, etc.)

Qualifications/Requirements:You have specific knowledge and skill sets that should include, but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) and/or a minimum of 8 years of equivalent experience

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage joint response and remediation efforts and constructively influence peers and leadership

  • Previous hands on experience in the information and cyber security field, specific to cyber security incident response

  • Previous hands on experience with digital forensics, incident response, cyber security, threat detection, or vulnerability management

  • Demonstration of leadership abilities as well as a strong comprehension of emerging threats

  • 8 years of operational IT experience

  • 4+ years’ experience with network security monitoring, SIEM and/or response related activities

  • 4+ years’ experience with host-centric detection & response skills, as well as process automation

  • Must be willing to work off-shift hours, as needed during incidents

  • Position located in Waukesha, WI, Chicago IL or Glen Allen VA

Desired Characteristics:

  • Detailed understanding of APT, Cyber Crime and other associated cyber threat groupings and tactics

  • Practical hands-on experience responding to events in cloud-based environments such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services

  • Practical hands-on experience with monitoring solutions based on SIEMs such as LogRhythm, ArcSight, or Splunk Enterprise Security

  • CISSP, OSCP or related SANS certifications preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
