General Electric Software Engineering Specialist in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Role Summary:

Responsible for breaking down and programing feature sets. Designs software and system models to meet product specifications. Contributes to the team and works with direction from Senior Team Members or management. Works directly to develop and support primary software products for Global Supply Chain and Brilliant Factory.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks.

  • Awareness of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.

  • Ability to write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.

  • Comfortable in building features such as web services and Queries on existing tables.

  • Understands performance parameters and can assess application performance.

  • Understands core data structures and algorithms and has the ability to implement them using language of choice. Is eager to pair and learn.

  • Understands the importance of test-driven development and high-quality output.

  • Is open to receiving guidance and direction; asks questions and communicate challenges.

  • Performance focused, valuing quality over quantity. Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

  • Must be willing to travel 10%

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Waukesha, WI Desired Characteristics:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience

  • Experience building web/cloud based software applications

  • Experience with at least one Object Oriented programming language (Java, C#, C++, etc.)

  • Experience building web/cloud based software applications on AWS
