General Electric Manufacturing Product Quality Engineer in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

This a technical position responsible for identifying and leading cross-functional projects to drive product quality and productivity improvement in manufacturing processes. This leader will collaborate with global engineering, supplier quality and supply chain teams to analyze data, identify root causes and implement solutions for manufacturing quality issues.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develops process and quality improvement plans using a variety of tools, including but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC, engineering studies, DOE, Gauge R&R, etc.

  • Work hands-on with manufacturing teams to identify and resolve quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.

  • Drives improved product quality by developing advanced manufacturing cost-effective solutions and overseeing successful implementation with a goal of reducing defects and lost hours per unit.

  • Enables leadership to prioritize quality related projects based on assessment of business impact.

  • Engages product quality teams at GEHC affiliate sites and GEHC supplier quality teams to improve product quality at the subsystem level with external suppliers.

  • Links field and install product quality issues to improvement projects in manufacturing processes where applicable.

  • Ensures continuous improvement by working with new product introductions to design solutions for manufacturability and test.

  • Facilitates action workouts with cross functional teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline; or a bachelors non-technical degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering or quality assurance; or an Associate's degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality assurance

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development and analysis.

  • Effective problem solving, root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence others to drive change (cross-functionally and globally)
