General Electric Lead Systems Designer, CT Digital in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

The Lead Systems Designer for CT Digital will have the key responsibilities of establishing the product requirements for a software medical device that incorporates AI and deep learning applied to cutting edge imaging technology. This role will include imaging components that are linked to Gemstone Spectral Imaging datasets as well. The Lead Systems Designer leads program teams to deliver the technical content, performance, intellectual property and quality deliverables of a small to mid-sized NPI Program. The role drives alignment of program scope to available resources and timing, the architecture, vision and design requirements. The role ensures proper balance between feature and functionality, quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, compliance and cost.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Incorporating AI and Deep Learning specific needs and requirements into requirements.

  • Ensuring that the quality targets are satisfied and retires technical risks as they arise on the program

  • Leading the design team and design control process from requirements development and design planning to design transfer

  • Leading the design team in the development of verification and validation planning and execution

  • Developing requirements flow down, architecture/system design and analysis, risk analysis, integration and test, manufacturing, field and customer support including corrective and preventative actions to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Driving the architecture, vision and design requirements for the product all the time balancing implementation complexity, risks, manufacturability, serviceability and quality

  • Leverages knowledge in advanced aspects of technical/functional areas and applies technical theory and practical experience with input from relevant functional areas to solve complex problems

  • works independently and possesses a level of functional expertise necessary to influence and execute technical and project delivery execution

  • Works with patient/customers and/or program leadership to ensure that the project deliverables are consistent with the goals of larger programs or initiatives

  • Supports mentoring of junior technical talent

  • Accountable for implementing and teaching engineering standards

  • Owns the technologies that support competitive technical differentiation

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering

  • Six or (four with MS) years of relevant work experience.

  • Two years of experience in project leadership within a manufacturing, development or research environment

  • Demonstrated experience driving CTQ flow-down to subsystems

  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical leadership team to implement product platform/subsystem multi-generation technology plan for a specific release of a global program/product

  • Demonstrated broad exposure to HW/SW/Systems design and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc)

Desired Characteristics

  • Ph.D. in Engineering (Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical or related field)

  • Demonstrated experience with NPI ISO and regulatory compliance process, design history file and collaterals are in place and current

  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues

  • Demonstrated skills in proactively identifying, facilitating and driving closure of a product/program

  • Strong interpersonal skills
