General Electric Lead Systems Design Engineer in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

As the Lead System Designer, you will be responsible for working with multiple teams across the board to ensure appropriate processes are used for design & development of Edison HealthLink/HealthServices Platform. You will be working on container-based virtualization or containerization technologies and building a self-managed platform stack that can host independent applications in an HA environment. Must demonstrate clear strategic thinking, a strong capability to work cross-functionally across organizations, and an aptitude for driving product development and integration lifecycles. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to partner with Edison Platform Engineers to deliver high quality products.

Job Description


  • Proven track record of successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation

  • Sound knowledge of PRD milestones, and QMS and technical artifacts therein based on program scope – drives the design and release of these artifacts from concept to closure

  • Works to ensure QMS compliance, DHF readiness & regulatory paperwork to enable Edison HealthLink/HealthServices platform towards commercialization

  • Shows expert knowledge of Development Operations, Continuous Integration and its impact on releasing quality products

  • Provides expert oversight, training & mentoring for team members

  • Navigates through ambiguity, prioritizes conflicting asks and shows ability to adapt to changing project situations

  • Representing the design team and design control process from requirements development and design planning to design transfer

  • Representing the design team in the development of verification and validation planning and execution

  • Developing requirements flow down, architecture/system design and analysis, risk analysis, integration and test, manufacturing, field and customer support including corrective and preventative actions to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Ensuring compliance of the product to cyber security standards and regulations by proper DEPS framework.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 10 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across disciplines and functions

  • Knowledge and interest in container-based virtualization or containerization technologies

  • Knowledge and interest in building a self-managed platform stack that can host independent applications in an HA environment

  • Experience in working across modalities & handling LSD responsibilities with Software focus

Desired Characteristics

  • Requires deep understanding of container-based virtualization or containerization technologies, software architecture and development, scalability, availability & performance considerations and its impact on release engineering; Leads discussions about Release Engineering across one or product families

  • Provides expertise in implementing Agile Methodology for Release Operations and integrating it with the overall SDLC
