Job Description Summary
This role, Lead MR (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Applications Engineer serves a key technical role within the MR Applications & Workflow team. You will translate the pipeline of advanced clinical MR application prototypes into product-quality solutions by developing state-of-the-art enabling software technology, with a focus on advanced software (pulse sequence, reconstruction, host) and artificial intelligence methods that form the basis for the next-generation Intelligent MR Scanner.
Work with a cross functional team of engineers, scientists, clinical managers and product owners to translate high-level MR application and workflow product needs that demand new software capabilities into component-level requirements
Work as an embedded member of a software Engineering team in the Agile scrum team framework to help deliver new applications feature content prioritized by programs. Develop and integrate software components into the system in accordance with the software development policies and procedures
Application design, implementation, and feasibility testing in a clinical environment
Transform prototype applications into product-quality components by optimizing for image quality, processing speed, re-use, and software lifecycle management
Develop and integrate software components into the system in accordance with the software development policies and procedures
Document requirements, designs, verifications and other key development activities in accordance with established GE Healthcare and local quality processes;
Anticipate and define MR software infrastructure requirements of pre-NPI and advanced technology development (ATD) applications in development by the extended team; help to design and build enabling software components to retire clinical and technical risk as early as possible in the development cycle
Master’s Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math or Physics.
At least 3 years of relevant industry or research experience (Medical Imaging, Image Processing application development preferred).
Experience with MR pulse sequences/acquisition techniques and K-space sampling and reconstruction strategies used by various clinical applications. Experience with MR reconstruction processing pipeline
Demonstrated experience in MR research and development
Experience in software platform, advanced applications, user-interface development and/or systems engineering
Experience in Object Oriented Design and Development, C++, and Python
Familiarity with industry software development lifecycles, development environments and tools.
Ph.D. Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math or Physics.
Familiarity with GE EPIC Pulse Sequence Development environment and GE Orchestra Reconstruction environment.
Knowledge of emerging Non-Cartesian Acquisition/Reconstruction Techniques, motion correction techniques and MR image artifacts will be an added plus.
Experience working with C++ and Python IDEs – e.g. : VS Code, Visual Studio or Eclipse
Strong experience with source control tools (Perforce & Git)
Experience with High Performance Compute or GPU technologies.
Experience in Machine Learning development libraries such as TensorFlow and Keras.
Familiarity or experience with Agile software development method
Experience developing software for Linux, Windows, and Mac
