General Electric Electrical Engineer, RF in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

This Electrical/RF Engineer position will primarily be responsible for the development of RF component designs used in a Magnetic Resonance (MR) system. The successful candidate will join the Global MR Transmit, Receive and Scan Sequence Control group and interface with a global team to design, test and implement RF and analog designs as part of cost productivity projects and new product introductions. The candidate will leverage knowledge of RF design techniques, modeling and test verification methods to ensure a quality design.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

•Write detailed functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction.

•Design and develop various RF hardware in MR transmit chain and related circuits.

•Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to understand system interactions and

dependencies; account for these integration points within development plan

•Provide technical support to team throughout product development and implementation process

•Test and verify hardware to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, by recording and analyzing test data

•Construct models and simulations to prove out design concepts; Model, build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with simulation

•Capture electrical design schematic using an ECAD system (Cadence).

•Review and approve layout done on the ECAD system.

•Select hardware and material, assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements. Work with technology suppliers and cross-functional staff to optimize RF hardware designs.

•Engaging in all phases of new product introduction: concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support

•History of continuous development of core competencies in RF and mixed signal field. Update knowledge and skills in order to keep up with rapid advancements in RF technology

•Identifying and developing new opportunities to leverage Strategic Sourcing objectives and Common Technology initiatives in the MR product line

Quality Specific Goals:

1.Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position

2.Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines

3.Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

4.Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables

5.Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements

1.Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2-5 years relative work experience in RF and analog system design.

2.Demonstrated ability to design and debug RF bench level test setups. Must be familiar with common RF components.

3.Familiar with RF antenna design and testing.

4.Demonstrated experience in MATLAB or equivalent simulation/modeling tool.

5.Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures.

6.RF Circuit design and simulation tool (ADS, HFSS) experience.

7.Schematic capture experience.

8.Working knowledge of PWA board bring-up and system integration experience.

9.Experience with typical electrical test equipment such as power meter, vector network analyzer (VNA), spectrum analyzer, oscilloscopes.

Desired Characteristics

1.Masters degree in Electrical Engineering

2.Circuit design and simulation tool experience

3.Prior work experience in GEHC

4.Design experience in applications of analog filters, RF amplifiers, mixer design, impedance

matching, ADC driver interfaces

5.Demonstrated experience in RF/Mixed signal simulation tools (Agilent ADS, PSpice)

6.Demonstrated technical leadership capability in integration activities

7.Demonstrated self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task

8.Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills

9.Ability to meet aggressive reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and delivery targets

10.Experienced in developing project plans and estimates

11.Effective oral and written communication skills

12.EMC compatible design/solution experience

13.Design for Reliability and Manufacturability experience

14.Working knowledge of GEHC tools and processes EQPM, MyWorkshop, Cadence

15.DFSS or Green Belt/Black Belt Certified (Six Sigma Design/Quality)
