Job Description Summary
As Director of User Integration you lead scaling expert teams of design thinkers, user researchers, and usability engineers in order to contribute professionally created user insights and UX documentation to our innovation and development projects across the company.
You and your team support global, cross-functional product development teams by providing deep domain expertise in human cognitive and physical capabilities, and insights about user needs derived through formal research, design thinking practices and usability testing.
This includes connecting the needs of customers and our internal business partners to the strategic goals of Experience Design and furthering our mission to change the culture of innovation at GEHC.

Responsibilities as Director of User Integration
Build and lead expert teams of user researchers, usability engineers, and design thinkers in order to optimally work towards our Northstar of a coherent and delightful, best-in-class portfolio experience for GEHC. Create a high-performing team culture where people are happy, highly engaged, and skilled.
Develop and execute on the foundations for an efficient, professional, and scaling approach to user integration for our company, including collaboration contracts with research agencies and customers on a global scale in order to facilitate fast and continuous user input cycles for a multitude of projects in parallel.
Set up a scaling usability engineering approach for the company in order to provide formal user testing results, experience design specifications and documentation efficiently for a multitude of projects complying with our Phase Review Discipline (PRD), Usability Work Instruction (UWI), and Quality Management System (QMS). Leverage our design system specification as base for our documentation efforts across businesses.
Proactively collaborate with our business key accounts and other stakeholders in and outside of the company to plan and execute on user integration & UX documentation for a multitude of projects in order to meet our business objectives and to delight our customers
build strong customer relationships, drive customer-centric decisions and partner with customers to help shape their future initiatives
create enthusiasm about collaboration with users and help colleagues see the value of a human-focused approach to all business-related problem solving
Develop and execute a global Menlo strategy that supports the needs of GEHC as a business, leverages our best practices and helps to solve some of the most challenging problems for our customers, patients and GEHC.
Contribute to the execution of a global user-centered design strategy and process that ensures ease-of-use and consistency across the GE Healthcare product portfolio.
Provide leadership and mentoring of User Integration team members by creating opportunities for them to apply, grow, and showcase their skills.
Graduation or post-graduation in design, psychology or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or related field;
Minimum 15 years in Experience Design, including user research, design thinking, and usability engineering tasks, 8 of them as people leader in at least of these functions
Trained in design thinking
Track record of developing and executing user experience strategies and processes scaling for a large portfolio of products & solutions
Desired Characteristics/Technical Expertise:
Demonstrable experience with translating research findings and insights into business opportunities, design ideas and user interface concepts.
Familiarity with ISO, FDA and other regulatory standards.
Experience with innovation strategies, tools, and processes
Good understanding of Agile / Lean methodologies
Passion for coaching and mentorship
Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to influence outcomes
Strong team player
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, change orientation
Demonstrated customer focus, empathy, creativity, and humor
willing to travel up to 30% to visit global team members, business stakeholders, and customers
