General Electric Compensation and Benefits Controller in Waukesha, Wisconsin
The Compensation & Benefits Controller is a newly created role for GE Healthcare. This position will be responsible for various accounting and financial reporting activities as well as other administrative matters related to employee compensation plans including equity-based plans; pension and other postretirement plans; restructuring; and related areas.
The role will initially involve establishing accounting and reporting processes as a result of the recently announced spin off of GE Healthcare from General Electric. After the spin-off, the role will be responsible for the ongoing accounting and reporting of incentive/equity-based compensation and other employee benefits. Ideal candidates should have experience in accounting and financial reporting for equity-based compensation and defined pension and post-retirement plans in addition to solid skills in problem solving, verbal and written communication, and working cross functionally in a global organization.
The Compensation & Benefits Controller position will be responsible for the following:
Overseeing US GAAP and SEC compliant accounting, financial reporting and disclosures for employee equity-based compensation and other benefit plans; including the related impact on income tax accounting, the calculation of earnings per share, and the presentation of the cash flow statement
Ensuring compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX 404) by maintaining effective internal controls over reporting of employee equity-based compensation and benefit areas. Also, supporting both internal and external audits of related areas.
Participating in preparation of SEC filings during the spin off process.
Executing monthly or quarterly close processes ensuring timely and complete journal entries, closing schedules and account reconciliations
Accounting for stock option exercises, RSU releases and other day-to-day transactions on a timely basis
Preparing, implementing, communicating and monitoring compliant policies and procedures
Managing relationships with actuaries, treasury, benefits team, and other external advisors
Supporting forecasting/budgeting process for employee benefits, retirement plans, pension & post retirement, equity-based compensation and related expenses
Managing development of plan assumptions, valuations and forecasting. Understand how service, performance and market conditions will impact timing and manner of expense recognition, exercisability, equity/liability classification, and measurement of fair value.
Acting as the subject matter expert. Researching, interpreting and implementing the appropriate US GAAP and SEC accounting for equity-based compensations plans and other benefit programs. Advise leadership on the impacts of new or proposed plans as well as new accounting guidance.
Provide accurate and timely reporting to HR, finance, tax, legal, leadership and others. Preparing ad hoc financial analyses and presentations upon request.
Identifying and leading process improvement opportunities for compensation accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
At least 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with knowledge of equity-based compensation and benefit plan accounting.
Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. GAAP/IFRS
Experience researching accounting and reporting issues, including interpreting U.S. GAAP and SEC Reporting Rules
Strong analytic skills
Clear thinking / strong problem solving: grasp new ideas quickly; take initiative to understand root causes of issues and development solutions; able to work independently; manage multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner; able to deliver messages effectively verbally and in writing.
Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others
Experience with financial systems/applications (i.e.: Oracle, Hyperion etc.), strong Excel skills

You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Proficient in accounting for equity-based compensation and pension/postretirement plans
Certified Public Accountant or equivalent (i.e. Chartered Accountant)
Experience applying SOX requirements
