Job Description Summary
Lead efforts to utilize the US Government Advocacy entities that exist to promote the adoption of GEHC technologies and solutions in markets outside the US. The role is intended to create intense interaction with US agencies to support GEHC responses to global tenders through broad government support for export opportunities, securing USG grants for training. This role will report to the Global Government Relations Leader for GEHC and will be accountable to the Global Projects Leader (EMEA). This role will be based in Washington, D.C.
Develop and implement strategies to promote GE Healthcare through engagement with US Federal Government entities, including legislative, Administrative and regulatory bodies.
Develop and execute on strategies in areas of trade promotion, market access, policy development and financing
Develop GE Healthcare political strategy (relationship engagement) and represent GE Healthcare at presented or created opportunities
Special focus will be required on the US Department of Commerce, US Department of State, USAID, the US Trade Development Authority, the US Trade Representative (USTR), the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) the World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank, ExIm Bank and NGOs in the US and outside the US
Focus also required with trade associations including US Chamber of Commerce, US and foreign country business alliances, e.g., Corporate Council on Africa
Work with GE Healthcare’s Global Government Relations leader and Global Projects leader to best position for GEHC for access to advocacy support
Identify opportunities for GEHC business and utilize the role to achieve commercial opportunity for the business
Help to shape emerging regulations and legislation to the benefit of GE Healthcare and its customers with focus on Europe, Middle East and Africa
Support commercial and market development opportunities identified by the businesses in which the government is an instrumental decision-maker or payer or advocate.
Lead and drive functional initiatives within the Government Affairs and Policy function, liaising with with business and functional leaders in EMEA
Working in partnership with the GE International Markets Team as well as GEHC global GAP teams
Bachelor’s degree and advanced business, technical, or law degree. Minimum 7 + years experience in government or government affairs field.
Deep understanding of the USG advocacy agencies and programs.
Experience interacting with USG advocacy government officials within the health care space.
Demonstrated understanding of government policy development and decision-making processes, including ability to identify and have access to key policy makers.
Demonstrated orientation towards business growth and experience in connecting policy and business outcomes.
Substantive understanding of global tendering practices and policies.
Substantive understanding of key healthcare policy and business issues.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to advise GE business leaders.
Proven team leader with high degree of personal initiative.
Strong public speaking and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies to lead and shape complex advocacy initiatives, legislative or regulatory policy matters.
Successful experience working on global government affairs and industry-related issues, ideally in senior leadership roles in both government and the private sector.
Demonstrated strategic thinking, including proven ability to prioritize, balance, and meet conflicting demands from multiple business and regional entities in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to conducting GE's business affairs with the highest integrity, including strict adherence to applicable laws and GE's values, which often go beyond legal compliance. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
