Job Description Summary

PLM, Configuration Control Board Chairperson act as product steward for the CFM56 product line, partnering with Systems, Commercial Engine Operations and Supply Chain, to set and execute the strategy for developing and maintaining certifiable and maintainable products, and managing change consistent with program goals. Specifically define optimal build structure and fully manage various engine configurations. Drive design changes from ideation to completion. Connect engineering with supply chain production and assembly, and the field.

CCB is part of Systems engineering which is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

• Own the product configuration architecture

• Accelerate the execution of configuration changes (project management), and authorize and approve where appropriately delegated

• Own conformance to the product change process

• Is responsible for the product structure, configuration, and documentation, ensuring compliance to GE and regulatory policies for all engines - development, production, and field

• Is the platform final word expert on all configuration control questions within the business

• Validate proper change definition and substantiation

• Is the champion of the change process, including proposing and institutionalizing improvements to that process

• Provides training and guidance for change document writing for the engineering teams

• Is integral part of Product Control Board and is the final reviewer for all changes.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience (5 years) in the Design Engineering, Project Management and Configuration Management.

  • Bachelor/Master degree in mechanical engineering or related field

  • Demonstrated knowledge of turbofan engine hardware architecture and manufacturing

  • Ability to execute projects working with distributed international team

  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and changing requirements

  • Positive attitude
