General Electric Lead Engineer - Mechanical Component in Warsaw, Poland

Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute withminimal guidance the design and development of the assigned components from Turbine Module Structural components

  • Serve as a lead designer of assigned turbine hardware, including overall responsibility for all aspects of mechanical design - FEA analyses, design reviews, cooperation with PDE on models/drawings definition , manufacturing / assembly support & customer issues resolution support

  • Execute on NPI programs and support field, manufacturing issues resolutions (RCAs) working with Chief Engineers, Systems, Design, Control Title Holders, Manufacturing, Product Support and Suppliers teams to assure system level achievement of product goals.

  • Effectively document engineering work results and present them in formal and informal reviews, document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and projects commitments.

  • Continuous improvement activities in the areas of component design as well as design processes (incl. manufacturing, RCAs etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience with Turbine components (Structures) mechanical design from turbomachinery sector (aircraft engines, gas turbines for power industry)

  • MSc inMechanical/StructuralEngineering with strong & meaningful professional engineering experience in mechanical design in above area

  • Proficiency in engineering design processes, engineering and design rigor, modeling, mechanical & structural analyses

  • Good knowledge of engineering tools such as Ansys Classic, Workbench, Siesta,Hypermesh & UG

  • Demonstrated excellent English language written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of mechanics, dynamics and strength of materials

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a challenging and dynamic environment, to work with minimal supervision and under time pressure

  • MS Office skills
