General Electric Lead Engineer for Heat Transfer/ Aero Analysis in Warsaw, Poland

Job Description Summary

Heat transfer/ aero engineer will provide excellent support in the area of under cowl cooling and ventilation analysis for one of GE aircraft engine.

She/ he may also support development of other components (i.e.: heat exchangers, electrical distribution panels, power electronics, air bleed valves and ant-ice systems) from wide GE Aviation Systems products portfolio.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform under cowl cooling and ventilation analysis for one of GE aircraft engines

  • Perform heat transfer/ flow analysis for assigned component

  • Technical requirements interpretation

  • Support build of prototype units

  • Testing support and design validation

  • Ensure on schedule submission of planned deliverables to external and internal customers

  • Budget and schedule control needed to complete assigned tasks

  • Assure proper documentation (analytical models and reports) of technical data generated to substantiate assigned components/ systems consistent with GE Aviation engineering policies and procedures

  • Monitor and communicate project status internally and externally for related activities

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical/ program reviews in person or remotely

  • Share technical knowledge within the group and across the organization

  • Provide technical leadership & guidance to personnel supporting assigned project

  • Demonstrate proficiency with core technical tools, methods and concepts

  • May lead small team within individual discipline

Required Qualifications

  • Degree (BSc or MSc) in Mechanical Engineering or related

  • Understanding of heat transfer and fluid mechanics, good proven analytical skills

  • Knowledge in the area of jet engine ventilation and cooling, as well as fire prevention

  • Understanding of under cowl analysis techniques and relevant FAA/ EASA regulations

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and VBA programming

  • Experience with 1D tools and CFD analysis using Ansys CFX and Fluent

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to guide and influence others

  • Demonstrated teamwork and self-reliance in assigned tasks

  • Target oriented, responsible, open minded, problem solving attitude, “can do” approach

  • Demonstrated high written and verbal communication skills, proficient English (spoken & written)

  • Ability to work under time pressure and with budget/ resources constraints

  • Ability to travel abroad and work with global team members

  • Willingness to continuous learning and sharing best practices within the organization
