Job Description Summary
GE Gas Power, Gas Turbine Engineering Team is globally responsible for turbine (& combustion) modules in multiple GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbines, across all aspects of mechanical design for New Product Introductions (NPI), fleet/customers issues resolution and manufacturing support. The Hot Gas Path (HGP) Turbine Module Engineer focuses on turbine module Hot Gas Path component mechanical design, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and manufacturing / customer support, working on mechanical design for assigned components and projects, and working with local technical supervision and with global teams around the world daily.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute with guidance the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned Turbine Module Hot Gas Path projects using sound engineering fundamentals and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Serve as a designer of turbine hardware, with involvement in many aspects of mechanical design - FEA analyses, design reviews, cooperation with Product Definition Engineering on models/drawings definition , manufacturing / assembly support & customer issues resolution support
Participate as a team-member in New Product Introduction programs and support field and manufacturing issue resolutions (RCAs) working with Chief Engineers, Systems, Design, Manufacturing, Product Support and Supplier teams to assure system level achievement of product goals.
Document engineering work results and present them in formal and informal reviews, document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Collaborate with others and support in solving issues, and achieving technical requirements, schedules and project commitments.
Participate in continuous improvement activities in the areas of component design as well as design processes.
Develop conceptual knowledge of professional discipline.
Apply general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understand how work of own team contributes to the area.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering subject, or similar.
Demonstrated English language written and verbal communication skills
Desired Characteristics
Good oral and written communication skills.
Basic knowledge of engineering tools such as Ansys Classic, Workbench, Siesta, Hypermesh & UG NX, or similar
Understanding of mechanics, dynamics and strength of materials
Demonstrated problem solving skills and passion for learning
Demonstrated time management skills
