Job Description Summary

EDC Gas Power Gas Turbine Engineering Team is globally responsible for turbine (& combustion) modules in multiple GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbines, across all aspects of mechanical design for NPIs, fleet/customers issues resolution and manufacturing support.

The Turbine Module Engineer focuses on mechanical design of turbine module components including FEA analyses, RCAs and manufacturing / customer support, participating in mechanical design efforts for assigned components and working with local technical leadership and with global team around the world daily, including suppliers, GE factories and customers interactions.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute with guidance the analysis and development of the assigned Turbine Module components, including mechanical design, FEA analyses, design reviews, cooperation with Product Definition Engineering on models/drawings definition , manufacturing / assembly support & customer issues resolution support

  • Take part in NPI (new product introduction) programs and support field, manufacturing issues resolutions (RCAs) working with stakeholder organizations to assure system level achievement of product goals.

  • Effectively document engineering work results and present them in formal and informal reviews, document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.

  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.

  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • Collaborates with others to solve issues. Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement & LEAN activities in the areas of component design as well as design processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering subject, or similar.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of, or experience with mechanical design of turbomachinery (preferably gas turbines for power industry, but also aviation)

  • Knowledge of engineering tools such as Ansys Classic, Workbench, Siesta, Hypermesh & UniGraphics NX

  • Demonstrated excellent English language written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of mechanics, dynamics and strength of materials

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and passion for learning

  • Demonstrated time management skills
