General Electric Aircraft & Engine Maintenance Supervisor in Victorville, California

Job Description Summary

The aircraft and engine maintenance supervisor will provide technical direction to a team of airframe and powerplant technicians responsible for maintaining the company 747-400 flying test bed. In addition, you will provide technical oversite for engine disassembly/assembly requirements on development and production engines.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe, compliant, on-time and efficient maintenance of company aircraft at the line maintenance level

  • Direct the work performed under the repair station certificate and operations specifications.

  • Monitor work areas on a continuous basis to drive safety and compliance to CFR’s.

  • Provide on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction

  • Provide prompt information regarding status of programs, customer problems, failures, trends, and climate

  • Review effectiveness of maintenance actions in order to identify training needs

  • Anticipate requirements beyond those that immediately affect the program and assist in implementing actions to satisfy those requirements

  • Perform intermediate and depot level maintenance

  • Hands on repair and maintenance of aircraft and engines as needed

  • Use a lean approach to deliver results and create solutions in a dynamic environment

  • Enforce and analyze operations to ensure a safe working environment

  • Daily interface with safety, quality, customers (internal and external), engineering, support operations, ant the instrumentation team.

  • Ensure training is conducted for each employee for his/her applicable job tasks and forward applicable records to the Training and Development Leader for upkeep

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A&P certificated, meeting the requirements of 14 CFR Part 145.153, and be familiar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to perform the maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations of which they are directing and/or overseeing.

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret schematics, graphs, blueprints, and other technical information.

  • High School Diploma / GED

  • Hands-on experience supervising maintenance or inspection personnel in a flightline, engine shop and/or 145 repair station environment

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours / shifts as required, including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment that is subject to changing climate conditions and moderate noise levels

  • Capability and willingness of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (with or without assistance)

  • Ability and willingness to travel 20 percent of the time

  • Able to work at heights up to 80 feet

Desired Characteristics

  • 10 years of maintenance experience and 2 years of supervisory experience in the repair or manufacture of large transport category aircraft

  • Assembly, test, repair or maintenance/overhaul (Engine MRO) experience with aircraft engines (or gas turbines) and components preferred

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in business or technical field

  • Experience driving continuous improvement maintenance and management processes

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
