Job Description Summary

The Senior Category Staff Manager MRO, Utilities, and Facilities and his/her team are responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities across all aspects of GE Gas Power Spend for MRO, Utilities, and Facilities Management for their region. This includes taking strategic ownership of entire category spend, developing strategies to reduce total cost of ownership – including vendor management, demand management, and governance/compliance – to achieve initial step change TCO reduction and ongoing year-over-year improvements. The Senior Category Staff Manager will work with the Global Category Leader and the regional category management team to set strategy, coordinate sourcing efforts and policy, and execute initiatives. This will also involve partnering with GE functional stakeholders in Business Sourcing, Operations, Supply-Chain, Corporate, and other functions to drive TCO reduction while delivering excellent service levels to the organization.

Job Description


The Senior Category Staff Manager will have regional responsibility for:

  • Overseeing development/ execution of strategies through the sourcing process for specific Category Group of spend areas

  • Championing and securing TCO reductions for MRO, Utilities, and Facilities

  • Overseeing end-to-end Sourcing process: strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (RFXs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management

  • Working closely with Operations and Supply chain to initiate, lead and execute demand management initiatives (e.g., reduce utilities usage, develop minimum viable standard for facilities management, restrict MRO purchases to preferred SKUs)

  • Leading and managing multi-functional stakeholder teams on specific strategic sourcing initiatives or projects

  • Driving best practices

  • Measuring and tracking internal performance within each spend category

  • Monitoring strategy implementation to ensure benefit realization

  • Driving annual productivity improvements in each spend category

  • Driving value through supplier relationship management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college

  • Significant experience in Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, or equivalent consulting experience

Recommended Qualifications:

  • MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering

  • Inspirational people leader, collaborative mindset in working across functional areas

  • Strong analytical skills (spend analytics, should-cost analysis, market R&I)

  • Category management / sourcing experience in a multinational company

  • Proven track record to drive step change improvement in sourcing or similar functions

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Demonstrated negotiations skills

  • Aggressive self-starter

  • Strong project management skills

  • Experience with RFQ implementation and execution

  • Working knowledge of ERP/ SSS systems

  • History with supply base consolidation

  • Fluent English is a must
