Job Description Summary

We are looking for Fixturing and Tooling Engineer to work within our Special Process Engineer group in our rapidly growing repair shop at GE Aviation Hungary. We are undergoing considerable changes to the shop and present an opportunity for you to become involved and support and help drive these changes. We offer the opportunity to work within the Aviation Repair network working at a facility that has one of the largest portfolio of Aircraft Engine platforms in Europe.

Our facility is worldwide leader in repair of the composite and metallic components from variety of Turbofan jet engine modules.

Our FAR145 Component Repair Station is providing overhaul services to multiple GE commercial engines lines, such as GE90, GEnx, LEAP, CFM, CF34, GP and Honda.

Job Description

Successful candidate is going to be responsible for effective development of Fixture & Tooling designs supporting NPI, Product and Process engineering groups in the determination of tool functionalities against repair documents to meet repair intent. In this role you will be heavily using your 3D modeling skills (mainly in UG NX) and effectively building systematic fixture standardization and integration with other repair sites. Along with other engineers you will be working on determining manufacturability in house or through existing chain of vendors.

You will gain knowledge about 3D printing (by polymer) and will look for prototyping opportunities along with possible composite design (Polymer + metallic components) to minimize time of tool/fixture production and maximize future production flexibility for short series production.

In this role you will have the opportunity to define, develop and implement new process and procedures aiming standardization of drafting procedures, 3D model database etc. or based on collaboration with other sites replicate existing process adapted to local needs.


  • Engineering associated with the design, fabrication, and industrialization of fixturing/tooling for Services (Repair)

  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes (Examples: Lathes, CNC, machining, benching/blending, forming, EDM, etc.)

  • Ability to create tooling/fixturing designs via UG and AutoCAD (mechanical design)

  • Ability to create engineering drawings

  • Experience with manufacturing automation

  • Working knowledge of motion control systems, hydraulics systems, and pneumatic systems

  • Ability to project manage the delivery and fabrication of tooling/fixturing

  • Ability to interpret GE OEM technical documentation and Standard Practice Manual requirements

  • Ability to work with operators, shop engineers, and Quality to optimize repair processes for fixturing and tooling

  • Ability to work with digital/IT to introduce enhancements for data collection and storage solutions

  • Ability to articulate GR&R & GD&T solutions

  • Ability to work with vendors for the design and fabrication of tooling & fixturing

  • Experience with polymer printing technology


  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience

  • STRONG Hungarian and English language knowledge required

  • Unigraphics and AutoCAD expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge of underlying repair shop manufacturing principles, approaches, processes, and initiatives

  • Demonstrated skills to work with/lead suppliers, external resources, and supporting organizations.

  • Understanding and ability to direct LEAN improvements

  • Understanding of shop operations

  • Familiar with GD&T, GR&R, and SPC
