Role Summary:

The GE Aviation Systems Chief Engineer leads projects and initiatives with broad scope, technical depth and high impact to the business. The Systems Chief Engineer will need to be a recognized technical expert in the aviation domain. In the role of Systems Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex technical issues, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:

Additionally, as Systems Chief Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Champion for technology, improving product development lifecycle efficiency, development process best practices and technical talent development

  • Provide technical consultation and leadership for the product life cycle, particularly in the areas of Avionics, Power and Mechanical portfolios

  • Provide leadership and guidance during the design review process, in preparation for Tollgate readiness, as well as preside over formal technology and design milestone reviews

  • Participate in design board activities

  • Promote division wide initiatives related to product security, safety, reliability and quality, supporting accurate certification and continued airworthiness

  • Represent the Chief Engineer’s Office in matters related to design excellence … practices, reviews, and design board activities, leverages synergies with other GE design communities

  • Stays current and involved with GE Global Research, aerospace industry, academia and regulatory initiatives to ensure state of the art competitiveness

  • Provide technical mentoring to the global Controlled Titled Holder community and pipeline

  • Support Engineering and Supply Chain quality initiatives

  • Provide leadership, experience and knowledge to help proactively identify and solve technical problems

  • Promotes the documentation of lessons learned and their dissemination across the organization

  • Support technical training and development initiatives … e.g. Advanced Course in Engineering, (ACE), Edison and Apprenticeship programs

  • Technical degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Very Strong, deep experience in technologies related to aviation ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

  • Significant years of deep experience in technologies related to aviation (Including experience in aircraft certification and safety)

  • Master of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college, ACE graduate, or equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Awareness of design practices and Aviation policies and procedures

  • Chief Consulting or Consulting Engineer Controlled Title Holder within GE Aviation

  • Active design board experience

  • Full time quality position, achieving Black Belt or beyond certification

  • Demonstrated experience in aircraft certification and safety

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Leadership to pursue correct engineering process in adverse conditions

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
