A role based at Baglan Bay Power Station in South Wales providing an engineering career in the power industry as an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation apprentice. The apprentice will develop towards technician level. Development will include exposure to all aspects of maintenance and engineering such as fault finding, planned maintenance and engineering projects.
You will be reporting to the EC & I Team Leader.
Adopting a safety-first attitude to including active involvement in the effective implementation and running of all EHSQ programs.
Work dilegently following the apprenticeship program to become a contributing member of the Power Station’s maintenance team.
Undertake a period of academic and technical training within an agreed framework and timescale.
Adopt a driven and positive attitude towards personal improvement and development.
Invest time, effort and passion into your own learning.
Initially supervised then decreasing supervision with increasing responsibilities, as an apprentice you will be expected to develop and carry out the following tasks:
Planned and corrective maintenance, diagnosis and repair of DCS, PLC’s, I/O devices, primary measuring elements, and control systems.
Calibration and verification of a variety of devices.
Populating and utilizing the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and recording of all planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
Maintenance diagnosis and repair of heavy electrical equipment including HV generators, switchgear, AVR’s, transformers, inverters etc.
Assisting in plant developments and projects.
Any other duties within capabilities as directed by the Electrical, Control & Instrument Team Leader. Qualifications/Requirements:
A passion for engineering and technical work
Significant GCSEs (or Scottish equivalents) at Grade C or above including Maths, English, IT and Science
A suitable QCF Level 3 qualification such as A Levels or technical diploma / certificate (preferably in a scientific or mathematical subject)Applications from job seekers who require sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications.
