General Electric Sr Manager - Software Engineering in Vancouver, British Columbia

Job Description Summary

As a Sr. Manager of the GE Digital Manufacturing Software Engineering group, you will apply your knowledge of management, software development methodologies, best practices, and proven processes to deliver quality software products on budget, within planned schedule with superb quality & security. You will be leading a small team to design, implement, and maintain SaaS applications and frameworks in the manufacturing and IIoT sectors. You will utilize your operational judgement to work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across the business.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deliver and maintain software applications & services in a SaaS environment. Responsible for full software lifecycle including activities such as requirements analysis, work breakdown, documentation/procedures, and implementation.

  • Maintain quality, performance, security, reliability, and availability according to established and evolving practices and metrics.

  • Support a continuous learning culture to foster continuous improvement.

  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, development, and resource scheduling.

  • As Service Owner, participate in on-call rotation in case of support escalations.

  • Responsible for career planning, coaching and development of the team members.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience.

  • Experience leading complex SaaS software projects, making critical strategic decisions, and developing project plans.

  • Hands-on architecture design, code review, and security by design.

  • Experience leading Agile software teams.

  • Strong communication skills including interacting with stakeholders and reporting development status.

Desirable Qualifications

  • 3+ years of managing and building Software Engineering Teams.

  • Strong experience in Java, Spring Boot and micro-services architecture.

  • Experience in IIoT cloud platform and application development.

  • Experience in databases and familiar with RDBMS and NoSQL database.

  • Experience in Kubernetes, multi-tenant applications and native AWS cloud services.

  • Experience with test automation and test frameworks.
